Community Impact Challenge [CIC]
ABOUT US
Our Story
The Community Impact Challenge (CIC) was founded by an INSEAD alumnus and a staff member and launched globally in December 2019.
INSEAD is one of the world's leading and largest graduate business schools. It is a non-profit private educational institution with campuses in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and North America.
CIC is entirely volunteer-led and receives support from the Hoffmann Global Institute for Business and Society, INSEAD, the INSEAD Alumni Association, and INDEVOR, INSEAD's Social Impact club.
CIC welcomes participation from everyone, not just INSEAD alumni.
Our mission
We mobilize communities for positive climate impact through collective action.
Our priorities
Raise awareness, advocacy, and action for positive climate impact in business and life, advancing decarbonization efforts.
Raise awareness on personal carbon footprint and climate impact and encourage the adoption of a more sustainable lifestyle.
Drive awareness within the business community about climate impact and achieving net-zero emissions, invite commitment to action, and build a community of practitioners.

Our Values
Trust:
We build trust by showing up, communicating openly, and supporting each other’s efforts, because real change depends on honesty, integrity and reliability.
Teamwork:
We act together, because no one can solve the climate challenge alone, and collaboration makes every action stronger.
Accountability:
We own our choices and their impact, holding ourselves and each other responsible for ensuring transparency and turning good intentions into meaningful commitments.
Service Mindset:
We do what we do in service of the greater good – creating a positive and sustainable impact on our planet, our communities, and future generations.
Passion for Sustainability:
We’re driven by a deep love for the planet, people and nature and a belief that every step towards more sustainable living is one worth taking.

CIC in Numbers
We have 8000+ community members who come from over 100 countries to make an impact together. That’s the equivalent of a full Royal Albert Hall in London plus a few thousand more people standing outside.
In our various previous challenges, we have reduced 4,430 kg of single-use plastics. That’s the equivalent of 886,000 plastic bags that would cover an entire football field.
With our support, 50+ companies joined the Race To Zero challenge in 2021.
